Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is a neurohormone secreted by the hypothalamus. GnRH is carried to the anterior pituitary gland via the hypophyseal blood vessels where it stimulates the synthesis and secretion ofFSHandLH.LHandFSHare released into the bloodstream by which they reach the gonads, stimulating the production and release of steroid sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone or testosterone).
GnRH production is regulated by the steroid sex hormones via negative and positive feedback loops.
