Theheating curveis a graph of temperature versus the amount of heat added. The heating curve shows the changes in temperature that result as the substance absorbs an increasing amount of heat. We can also observe that the temperature remains constant while the change of state is in progress. The temperature plateaus because all the heat energy is used to break the分子间作用力.

The graph shows heat added in the X-axis and temperature in degrees celsius in the Y-axis for water. The data line starts at -36 degrees celsius, and when you add heat, the temperature experiments a linear increase until 0 degrees celsius, where the line becomes horizontal for a brief moment of time. At this point the heat doesn't increase with more heat added. When we continue increasing the heat added, the temperature increases linearly again until it reaches 100 degrees Celsius and then it turns horizontal again. The horizontal line is longer this time, meaning that it absorbs more heat than the previous time without increasing its temperature. After this phase is over, the temperature increases linearly again with the heat added up to 125 degrees celsius
