Cell membranes of excitable cells contain many different kinds ofion channels, some of which are voltage-gated. In order to study one type of卷tage-gated channelusing the卷tage clamp method, the inactivation of the rest of the channels is needed. To achieve that, a buffer blocking the rest of the channels in the cell membrane is used.
