DNA ligase, commonly used in biotechnology labs to performDNA ligation, was isolated from a phage T4 or from大肠杆菌. They both catalyze ligation reactions in a similar way, but they differ in cofactor requirements. The大肠杆菌enzyme requires NAD⁺while the T4 enzyme requires ATP.
