Nervous tissue is one of 4 general types of animal tissue, along withmuscle tissue,epithelial tissueandconnective tissue. It is compromised mostly of neurons and glial cells. Neurons are specialized cell types that generate and conduct nerve impulses. Glial cells support neurons by providing nutrients, removing debris, insulating electrical impulses and coordinating activity of neurons.
