A chicken with internal organs displayed stands beside a light microscope. Three images show a grayscale spherical object, a colored cross-section of a tube, and a grayscale image of cellular protrusions.

In this lab you will learn different microscopy techniques. You will examine samples from a chicken intestine, which is infected with a virus that is able to suppress the immune system of the chicken. You will start with a stainedlight microscopyslide and identify different structures of the small intestine. To see even more detail, you will use atransmission electrone microscopeto examine cellular structures in high detail. You will end the mission upon localizing the virus in the sample by usingfluorescence microscopy.
